Program-Specific Handbooks

Each summer study abroad program will have a mandatory pre-departure orientation session and/or other pre-departure activities. At the orientation, you will receive a Handbook for your summer program. Summer program handbooks will be posted on the program's webpage during the Spring semester.

Academic Policies

The first week of each summer study abroad program is considered the official add/drop period. All schedule changes must be made in consultation with the Faculty Program Director for your study abroad program and Branka Gajic, CIPA Summer Study Abroad Coordinator.

If you would like to take a course S/U, please inform Branka Gajic in writing within the first week of the program. You may take up to one course as S/U while on a summer study abroad program. This course cannot be a language course or a course intended to satisfy a GER, and if it is a course for your major or minor, departmental approval should be obtained. You should keep in mind Emory College policy: "a student may elect to take up to twenty of the total semester hours required for graduation from any department or division of the college with the stipulation that grades for courses so elected will be recorded as Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory only and shall not be counted in computing the grade-point average. No course used to satisfy general education requirements may be taken on an S/U basis. One course required for concentration in a given field may be taken on an S/U basis with the approval of the student’s faculty advisor, if the department of concentration so determines."

Emergency Situations

Please refer to your Program Director and/or Program Handbook for instructions on handling emergency situations while abroad.
