Your application must demonstrate academic reasons for studying abroad, and it will be evaluated on:
the appropriateness of your plan of study to your overall academic plan,
the quality of the match between your goals and the opportunities that the program offers, and
the strength of your preparation at Emory.
In order to apply for semester study abroad, students must complete the following steps:
Meet with a Study Abroad Advisor (visiting students may schedule a phone appointment with a Study Abroad Advisor).
Apply online to your program via the on-line application system. Students may search programs online and then click the Apply Now link. Emory students will need their Emory login ID and password. External students (visiting students from other institutions) will create a username (current email address) and password through the online system.
Once you log into your Emory College Study Abroad application, you will be required to complete several steps including questionnaires, non-refundable application fee, transcript, and additional program-specific materials. Most semester programs have a secondary application form required by the host institution or program provider. In some cases, this may include official transcript, letters of recommendation, passport photos and/or other materials that will be submitted directly to the host institution/provider. You will see information regarding secondary applications on the application checklist page. PLEASE NOTE: Your application is NOT complete until you have submitted all of these documents.
Application Status Notification
Emory College Study Abroad will review your application, and if your application is successful, your status will be changed to Provisional Admit (Deposit Required). You will then need to submit a $300 deposit to move forward with your study abroad application. After paying your deposit, your status will be changed to either Provisional Acceptance or Final Acceptance. Your application will be changed to Final Acceptance once you have been officially accepted by your program or host institution and you have shared your official acceptance notification with Emory College Study Abroad.
